These heels were made for walking.. so WALK in them!

My biggest style pet peeve is seeing a woman wearing high heels when she can't even walk in them. Well, I mean she can, but it's not attractive!

Now, I'm not claiming to be a professional heel-walker. But at least I don't look like a duck when I walk in them.

The key is that you have to find the heels that you can walk normally in. You see models in America's Next Top Model even practicing in high heels. So why shouldn't we?

However, I usually try to purchase the heels that I don't even need to practice in. The ones in the photo are some of my favorites. And I have no problem walking in any of them.

I rarely wore heels in high school, but that's understandable. I'm from Small Town, USA. I first REALLY discovered heels when I started college. That's when my style became more visible to me, and then of course to everyone else once I started showing it off.

I love high heels for two reasons: They make me taller. They give me better posture.

As long as you know how to walk in heels, wear them and wear them proud. But please do not disgust us with the combination of a fashionable shoe and not having the ability to pull them off in public. If you have to practice, PRACTICE! There's nothing wrong with that! But please, for the sake of OUR eyes, practice in private. Once you master walking in high heels, strut your stuff honey!

But if Miss Jay looks WAY better walking in high heels than you, please practice before you wear them to a club or to the mall. You are going to get the wrong kind of attention if you do!

My piece of advice: If you walk as fast and as straight as you can and keep your head up and eyes ahead, you will have a much easier time walking in them than if you walk slow and concentrate too hard on your objective.

Buying in the off-season

My older sister visited one weekend. She enjoys walking around Wall Drug. Let's be serious. Who doesn't?

Yes, it has a lot of useless pac-rat stuff. But it's fun to just look around. And in a tourist trap like that, how fun is it to just goof off? I'm not going to lie. I've lived in this town almost all my life, and I still play tourist when I go to Wall Drug.

My parents know and love me, but I even embarrass them sometimes. Oh well. I'm just being me, and they love that about me. I like to be a goof ball. I love that I don't care what people think.. most of the time.

The product of that characteristic can be seen in the photo.

And yes, there were other people in the store.. some that we even knew.

As for the hat: I have always wanted one like this. I should have bought it! Sadly, I still haven't started my job yet. However, I just recently received my tax return. Maybe I should return to see if it's still unpurchased. (I just made that word up!)

I know, I know. Why would you buy a winter hat when summer is just around the corner?

That's how I usually shop. It's cheaper that way. Buying them in the off-season. I bought a pair of really cute shorts in the winter. My shopping friend asked me why I was buying shorts when summer is so far away. I replied, "Uh, because it's on sale!" I bought the shorts for $4.99 (at Charlotte Russe, of course), originally $19.99.

That, in my opinion, is the best way to shop. Look at how much money I saved! Naturally, the only thing that sucks is you have to wait a season or two to actually wear it!

Hmm.. I really want to go back and buy the hat now!

Looking back on the good ole days

Since I have so much free time on my hands, I have taken some time looking through our photo albums. I have found many great photos of my parents when they were young and in love. And then I got to the photo albums of my sister's and my childhood. Surprisingly, now having my own sense of style, I find that my sister and I were pretty stylish. I have found a couple of myself that I really enjoy!

Here is one of them. Notice the heart-shaped sunglasses and the Saddle Oxford shoes! I've noticed that this style of shoe is coming back to trend. I can't wait to get my hands, and feet, on a pair of my own!

Check back later for more!

New hat!

I know it has been awhile since I posted something. Oops!

Well, the nice Spring weather has finally arrived, and I'm trying to absorb as much sunshine I can before summer. I have also been going on daily speed-walks from my house to the post office and back. I'm hoping I can finally look the way I want to in my new vintagesque bikini.

Recently, I took a walk downtown Rapid City with my friend Catherine. We enjoy browsing through the cute boutiques this area offers. I found this hat on sale. Luckily Cat talked me into purchasing it. I'm happy I can add it to my collection!

I will try to post blogs more often. Soon to come: a blog about high heels!

The hat: $5.00

Dressin' up dogs

Sparkie (Yorkshire Terrier) knows how to sport one of the most popular fashions: scarves.

I'm sorry that I haven't posted anything lately. I figured I'd put up a fun photo in the mean time, while I'm working on the next blog. It features my opinions about how people who don't know how to walk in heels shouldn't walk in them in public!

Expressing frustrations: Shoe size

I had a couple of interviews this week so I spent the last couple of days in the Black Hills. I felt really good about my first interview so I decided to grant myself some me-time. Since I had a coupon for Payless (15% off), I decided to spend about a half hour in there looking at shoes that I did not need. It's always fun just to browse and try on things just to goof off.

Well, I found some really great regular-priced merchandise.. but I also found some amazing deals! A sale plus a savings coupon is an awesome reward!

The items I really wanted to purchase were a pair of grey Fioni pumps ($22.99) and a taupe Minicci hand bag ($24.99). Being unemployed, both were out of my price range. But my eyes continued to wander and I found a pair of maroon Predictions flats and a gold Minicci hand bag on sale for $6. With my 15% off coupon, I walked out of the store with both sale items for a little more than $12.

Despite my luck in finding such cute shoes and accessories for such low prices, this little shopping venture somewhat frustrated me.

In the past, I had noticed that my shoe size is different when it comes to different styles of shoes. But today, I noticed just how much that difference was. I'll give it to you quick..

Tennis shoes: Size 8
Flats: Size 7
Heels: Size 7.5

These many differences make online purchasing very frustrating.. which is why I don't buy shoes online! It's too much of a hassle when there is no guarantee that the shoes will be the right fit. So I shall continue to shop in the shops just to receive the no-hassle "satisfaction guaranteed."

God bless and best wishes for the new year! And remember to be yourself. Don't try to be anyone else. Wear what's you!
